When to take your test
Collect your blood sample in the morning, ideally before 10:00 AM, when testosterone levels are naturally at their highest.
Before testing
Avoid fatty meals for at least 6 hours before collecting your sample and avoid strenuous exercise the night before. Drink water as normal to help with blood collection.
Using testosterone or hormone gel?
Hormone gel on your hands or under your fingernails can contaminate a finger-prick sample and give a falsely high result. Wash your hands and fingernails thoroughly before collecting your sample and avoid contact with areas or clothing that may contain gel residue.
If you use prescribed testosterone or hormone treatment, do not stop or alter your treatment without speaking to your prescriber. Ask them about the best timing for your blood test.
Collect your sample at home using the instructions provided, return it in the prepaid tracked packaging, and your sample is analysed by a CQC-regulated laboratory.
