Diabetes Test (HbA1c)
This test measures Glycated Haemoglobin (HbA1c), which reflects your average blood glucose level over approximately the previous three months. Glycated Haemoglobin (HbA1c)
Before testing
You do not need to fast for an HbA1c test. You can eat and drink normally beforehand because HbA1c reflects your average blood sugar levels over roughly the previous 8–12 weeks, rather than your blood sugar at a single point in time.
Hydration
Drink plenty of water beforehand and warm your hands under warm running water for a few minutes. This can improve blood flow and make finger-prick collection easier.
Collect your sample at home using the instructions provided, return it in the prepaid tracked packaging, and your sample is analysed by a CQC-regulated laboratory.
