About this test
The KnowYou+ Menopause & Perimenopause Test measures FSH, LH, Oestradiol, TSH and Free T4.
It combines key reproductive hormones with thyroid markers to provide additional health information that may be relevant when customers experience changes associated with perimenopause or menopause.
Symptoms and hormone levels can vary significantly during perimenopause, so results should always be considered alongside age, symptoms, menstrual pattern, medication and clinical history.
Results provide measurements and health insight; they do not by themselves diagnose menopause or another condition.

What do the five biomarkers measure?
FSH
Follicle-stimulating hormone is involved in ovarian function and commonly changes as ovarian activity declines.
LH
Luteinising hormone is involved in reproductive hormone regulation and ovulation.
Oestradiol
A major form of oestrogen involved in menstrual-cycle and reproductive function.
TSH
Thyroid-stimulating hormone is used as a key marker when assessing thyroid function.
Free T4
Free thyroxine provides information about circulating thyroid hormone and is interpreted alongside TSH.
Who might this test be suitable for?
Changes in periods
Irregular, changing or absent periods during the menopausal transition.
Hot flushes or sweats
Customers experiencing common menopause-type symptoms.
Mood, sleep or energy changes

4 useful questions to ask
How to explain the test to the customer
Avoid telling customers that one blood result can confirm or exclude menopause. Hormone levels may fluctuate, particularly during perimenopause.
Could another KnowYou+ test be more appropriate?
| Customer wants to understand… | Test to consider |
|---|---|
| Menopause-type symptoms plus thyroid markers | Menopause & Perimenopause |

Important to remember
Menopause is primarily assessed using age, symptoms and menstrual history in many women. Blood measurements provide additional information but should not be presented as a definitive diagnosis.
HRT, hormonal contraception and other factors can affect hormone results.
When testing should not delay medical assessment
- Very heavy or unexplained bleeding
- Bleeding after menopause
- Severe pelvic or abdominal pain
- New breast lump or concerning breast symptoms
- Severe headache with visual disturbance
- Rapidly worsening or concerning symptoms
